Maximizing your gains
A checklist for better results and for investigating unexpected balance drops.
#Manage risk
- Use token filters. As examples, some users require tokens at least several hours old, a market cap in the millions and a Jupiter score above 55. These are not recommendations. Pick your own.
- Match your ratio to the wallet's trade sizes.
- Set a stop-loss and a take-profit.
- Use SOL Only and one pool per token.
- If needed, cap new positions to one every six hours.
#Pick wallets well
Be careful with wallets that trade mostly tokens, trade small caps, or have many followers. Crowded wallets can get worse entries and exits. Follow one or two wallets.
#Check your ratio
If you underperform the wallet, your ratio may be off. A wallet can lose big on a trade that was a small part of its capital. If you cap your size, you absorb its losses but miss its big wins.
#Optimize fees
Set the Priority fee tier to Medium or Low and keep the Priority fee max cap low.
#Green PnL, red wallet
- The PnL image shows a gain such as 0.46 SOL, but your balance drops.
- Check the 1-minute chart at the close time. In one example the token fell 13.25% in that minute, so the exit came after the drop.
- Review the position's exit value. Price movement during the swap and Meteora fees reduce what you actually receive.
- On a Solana explorer, add the swap proceeds and the position proceeds and compare to your deposit. For example, 16.75 SOL plus 12.35 SOL is 29.1 SOL against a 30 SOL deposit, a 0.9 SOL loss.
